The Palate Princess – Episode 1 – Beer Tasting & Healthy Fast Food
The Palate Princess airs every Thursday at 2:30 PM on WWDB-AM Talk 860. Tune in on your radio, listen live at www.wwdbam.com or download the iRadio app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).
On today’s episode, I welcome Maria Alvarez of River Horse Brewing Company in Ewing, NJ and Deb Lutz of b. good in Wynnewood, PA. Both ladies are making a splash in the beverage and food industries respectively–Maria works in Sales and serves as the social media/marketing manager at the popular New Jersey brewery and Deb is a local franchisee of the Boston-based b. good chain and has joined the crop of healthy fast casual eateries popping up in the area.
Maria clearly knows her stuff as evidenced by her expert knowledge of beer and cheese pairings. She presents a beautiful spread of various beers, cheeses and accoutrements as she walks me through a flight of some of River Horse’s best offerings–ranging from a buttery lager to a smoky oatmeal milk stout. How do I, a teetotaler, fare? You’ll have to listen to find out. (Spoiler alert: It was an unexpected outcome.)
Up next in the second half of the show is Deb Lutz, a career changer who left the corporate world to dive head first into the food world. A self-proclaimed foodie, Deb shares that she’s always been interested in new food concepts and leapt at the chance to open a local franchise of New England-based fast casual chain b. good whose philosophy of “food made by people not factories” and its commitment to locally-sourced ingredients has made it one of the area’s top healthy eating destinations. Deb brings some goodies with her on today’s show and even has something for the Pope. Wait. What? That’s right, you read that correctly.
