Recently, Starbucks sent me an array of products to review.  After I ripped open the package with the barbaric intensity of a 3-year old on Christmas day, my eyes instantly spotted the VIA® Caramel instant coffee.  I love all things caramel but as an instant coffee, I wasn’t so sure.  I’m the person who prefers the book to the movie, the original to the sequel, and the first edition to the reprint so I was skeptical about Starbucks’ claim that this new product “completely replicates” freshly brewed coffee.  So, how did it fare?

Let’s face it–replicated things are rarely as good as the original and this product is no different, but it comes closer than other instant coffees on today’s market.  To its credit, it shares the same richness and comforting smell as a brewed coffee but has a slight, almost imperceptible, aftertaste.  All in all, it’s the perfect quick cup of java for people on the go.
