The only thing better than eating and mingling is eating and mingling for a cause. Tonight in Manayunk, foodies, chefs and culinary professionals got together to raise money for Wat Bodd Voraditt–an orphanage in Thailand.
EATS is the brainchild of Chabaa Thai Executive Chef Moon Krapugthong and kitchen designer extraordinaire Judy Spielman (of Space by Spielman) and the event brought together some of the area’s brightest culinary talent and featured a cooking throwdown among top local chefs. Outside, food trucks lined the street offering an eclectic array of eats from artisanal, brick-oven pizza to short rib tacos from famed Philadelphia chef/restaurateur José Garces (who also served as a distinguished judge).
Guests were pleased to see area chefs like Derek Davis of Derek’s, Clark Gilber of Gemelli, Tom Konidaris of Zesty’s, Brendan McGrew of Bourbon Blue, Tony Clark of The Old Grange (Cape May, NJ) and John O’Brien of Winnie’s Le Bus jump into the competitive fray and serve up some seriously tasty eats.
For an inaugural debut, EATS was an awesome affair of mixing, mingling and eating for charity. Hopefully, this will be the first of many more to come.
