First Friday Hits the ‘Yunk

Several neighborhoods in the greater Philadelphia area participate in First Friday–an after-hours jaunt that provides access to art galleries, restaurants, live music, great shopping and more–and now Manayunk is jumping into the fray.

This year-round event officially kicked off last month and confirmed what many of us already knew–Manayunk, Philly’s spunky little sister, knows how to party.

First Friday is a wonderful way to discover local budding artists and a stroll along the canal path will put you face to face with several quaint art galleries.  Manayunk’s eclectic shopping and dining scenes are not to be missed.  Whether you’re stocking up on beauty essentials at Beans Beauty or noshing on crabcakes at Zesty’s, the ‘Yunk is where it’s at the first Friday of every month.

WHEN: First Friday each month – year round

WHERE: Participating merchants on Main Street and side streets from Shurs Lane to Green Lane (For a complete list of participating merchants, click here)

HOURS: Events run in shops, galleries, and restaurants from 5 to 9 PM
COST: Pay as you go
